Getting Ready For Thanksgiving

This week has been a busy one for sure.
I love the time leading up to Thanksgiving.
I've spent the past few days putting some TLC into my home,
cleaning, rearranging, and adding some final Holiday touches here and there.

My sister and little boys are staying here visiting for the entire week.
We've been scheming crafting and decorating ideas together.
Today we all went to Kristina's to set up Harper's Nursery.
Tomorrow there will be pie baking.

♥ Happy Thanksgiving ♥

  1. Good Morning Becka, How wonderful to have your sister and her children staying with you for a week. To spend time together crafting and decorating, you must feel so very happy. Can I ask, is pie baking traditional for Thanksgiving as I notice there are a lot of pies shown in blogs as I thought turkey was the traditional meal. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful time with your family. Best Wishes Daphne

    1. Good Morning Daphne-
Turkey is our traditional dinner for Thanksgiving, and pie is the traditional dessert.
I bake pumpkin and apple, two of my favorites.
Pumpkin is usually served with fresh whipped cream on top, and vanilla ice cream on the apple pie.
What Holiday in England would compare to America's Thanksgiving?
I have very much enjoyed getting to know you a little better each time we chat.
      Have a wonderful day.
      :) Becka

    2. Good Evening Becka, The nearest we have to your Thanksgiving is our Harvest Festival. This is traditionally a service which is held in church, but also a lot of schools celebrate this festival. It is usually at the beginning of October. Children take gifts of fruit and vegetables to the church which are presented during the harvest service. Normally when the hymn "We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land" is sang. At the end of the service the gifts of fruit and vegetables are distributed amongst the elderly. It is a lovely service and a lovely way to share what we have. Have a lovely Sunday. Best Wishes Daphne
